Lecture by Dr Joe Loizzo

 Lecture by Dr Joe Loizzo

In recent years, mindfulness has proven to be a powerful tool that can help clinicians and patients to reduce stress, heal the mind, brain, and body, and enhance wellbeing and positive engagement with the world. Decades of research have shown the neuroscience behind mindfulness practices, leading to their integration in many areas of medicine and psychology, as well as growing public interest.

Dr Joe Loizzo's lecture introduced participants to the basic science and practice of mindfulness, insight, and loving-kindness, and help them appreciate its potential application to prevent caregiver burnout and compassion fatigue, and to promote healing, wellbeing and happiness for themselves and their patients. This lecture aims to reach out to community partners and share the application of mindfulness in self and patient care.

Caregivers' Roadshow by Institute of Mental Health

Caring for someone with mental illness is often challenging for families, relatives and friends. Caregivers are concerned about their loved ones but are often angry, frustrated, and fearful in their caregiving journey due to a lack of knowledge and skills to manage their loved ones' mental illness.

Research has shown that when caregivers find appropriate support and are equipped with the knowledge and skills to manage their loved ones' mental illness, they are better able to help their loved ones cope and improve with treatment.
