 Overview of Community Care – GP Partnership Training Award  

The Community Care – GP Partnership Training Award (CC-GPPTA) aims to help the Community Care sector ramp up its manpower capabilities to meet the needs of our ageing population.  It also enables General Practitioners (GPs) who are interested in serving the needs of our seniors to link up with the Community Care institutions.  

This Award co-funds GPs who are enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Palliative Medicine (GDPM), or Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine (GDGRM) or Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine (GDFM).  

It is administered by the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) 

 Eligibility Criteria for GPs 

 The Community Care – GP Partnership Training Award is open to GPs who meet the following criteria: 

 a)        Must be a Singaporean or Permanent Resident (PR); 

 b)        Must have gained admission to the GDPM, GDGRM or GDFM programme offered by the National University of Singapore – Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine; 

 c)         Must be sponsored by a Community Care institution; and 

 d)        Shall not be receiving any funding support, other than the Community Care –GP Partnership Training Award for GDPM or GDGRM or GDFM training.

 Eligibility Criteria for sponsoring Community Care institution 

 The sponsoring Community Care institution will need to meet either of the following criteria: 

 a)        Institutions that are government-owned or operated by voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs) registered as charities under the Charities Act (Cap 37), and providing Intermediate and Long-Term Care (ILTC) healthcare services; or 

 b)        Institutions that are operated by voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs) registered as charities under the Charities Act (Cap 37), and receiving subvention funding from Ministry of Health (MOH) for the provision of ILTC social services; or 

 c)         Institutions that receive MOH or Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) programme funding for ILTC healthcare and social services; or 

 d)        Private providers receiving portable subsidies from MOH for the provision of ILTC healthcare and social services; or 

 e)        Third-party service providers with Institutions of Public Character (IPC) status, providing supporting healthcare services to VWOs providing ILTC healthcare services.

 Funding Support  

 Successful applications will be funded at 70% of the training costs.  

 Community Care – GP Partnership Training Award awardees have a moral obligation to provide services to the Community Care institutions after completing their GDPM or GDGRM or GDFM training: 

 a)        There is no limit on the time period during which the awardees can provide services to their sponsoring Community Care institution; and 

 b)        Although there is no bond between the sponsoring Community Care institution and the awardee, the sponsoring institution can, if they so desire, arrange to have a written understanding with the awardee on their moral obligation to provide services to them.

 Application for the training award is now open!     

 Please submit the endorsed application form(S/No 4) with supporting documents (S/No 2) to AIC through your Sponsoring Community Care institution
